EXECUTIVE_SUMMARY: He is an older big man who now plays for Cincinnati but previously played two season Florida St and one season for Florida Atlantic. He cam via Spain with a lot of hype that he never really lived up too. The hype/vision for Miller was to be another Jonathan Isaac at nearly 6'11 (without shoes), a 7'2 wingspan, 9'2 standing reach, and the lateral mobility of a player 5" shorter its easy to see the appeal. OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: On offense he has a unique mix of skills likely forged by his late dramitic growth spurt. He was reportedly 6'2 at 14 years old and than shot up to his current 6'11. On a grab and go rebound he can look really proficient handling the ball in the open court to the point you forget he is nearly 7' flashing back to his time as a perimeter player. He finishes well in the paint and is a nice lob threat but I'm not sold on his of the dribble creation into his finishing (IE not a guy I see driving then going into a euro effectively (Giannis is elite at this). His outside shot has been an issue though he did shoot 34% on 3.4 attempts as a junior. He is only 60% from the foul line in his college career. The other skill that is likely a hold over from before his growth spurt is his passing. He had the highest % of his teams assists out of any D1 player over 6'11, the only player with a better % over 6'10 was the immortal Robbie Avila (aka Lary Nerd). DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: He has clear high level if not elite value on the defensive end of the court as a rare switch everything 5. The claim that a player can switch 1-5 is comicality over used but Baba might be the rare exception. While not a prolific shot blocker he has sufficient size to give his team rim protection when at the 5. He is also an elite defensive rebounder. His lateral mobility and defensive rebounding alone are enough to make him a really enticing defensive prospect. PROJECTION: Its rare to see a big man who can finish above the rim at a high %, has elite perimeter mobility, can rebound at a high level, and has positional size that isn't a lottery pick. Add to that his ball handling and passing and Baba becomes a confusingly underrated prospect. In a league that's getting bigger where star players often miss-match hunt in the playoffs its easy to envision a world where Baba is playing high leverage minutes on a playoff contender. If his shot never comes around he still has a fall back offensive role and a P&R big who will excel passing out of the short roll.
