Tall point guard with shooting proficiency behind the three-point line and craft to get downhill and score around the rim. Paired with a good level of playmaking and turnover suppression. However, Wagler is slight and not particularly explosive. Can he still find success going up against NBA athletes while continuing to round out the rest of his offensive game and survive on defense? OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Elite three point shooting ability. Can shoot it off of the bounce (pull-up), can shoot the ball off of the catch as well as an off-ball option. Operates well as a sure handed ball handler, does not turn the ball over a lot. Plays well out of the pick and roll, can get downhill and use craft to score around the rim. Passes the ball well to pair with the low turnovers. Makes some decent reads off pnr, can spray out to shooters when getting past his defender, also can lay the ball out for bigs to finish around the rim. Not an elite athlete, or very strong to be dominant around the rim for his size as a guard. Needs to continue to add strength and work on efficiency around the rim. Not much of a mid-range game to write home about. Still intrigued with the combo of shooting, ball handling w/o turnovers, solid passing, and craft around the rim at 19 is something to consider outside of the top-4 of this draft class. DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Does not project to be a great defender at all. Does not have the strength, foot speed, or bend to be a reliable poa defender. On film, he does move his feet decently well and was able to keep certain players in front. Made some decent plays off-ball getting steals, but the inability to get around screens was something that I continuously saw and that affects on and off-ball defense. I truly do not know how good or bad Wagler will be on this end of the floor as he matures in the NBA.
