Florida (MM) Iowa v. Nebraska (MM) Iowa v. Illinois (MM) Iowa v. Northwestern (2/8/26) Iowa v. Ole Miss (11/25/26) Iowa v. Xavier (11/14/25) Strengths - Stirtz basketball IQ is his greatest trait, as it leads to him being exceptionally good in the P&R. He is absolutely elite at scoring as the ball handler in these actions from both inside and outside the arc. - Once he's inside the arc Stirtz is very crafty in getting to the rim, having numerous unorthodox ways of scoring that make him hard to stop. He shot a ridiculous 72% at the rim on 136 attempts, and an overall 2PT% of 59%. - Stirtz played 37.7 MPG, which is exceptional for someone that's projected to be a lead guard at the NBA level. - Stirtz couples his sort of unorthodox approach to scoring in the paint with a surprisingly good first step. - Stirtz handle and body control are both exceptional and aid his great off the dribble shotmaking ability. - Defenses know how great he is in the P&R and he takes full advantage of whatever extra attention they throw at him with his playmaking. Stirtz averaged 4.4 APG, a 24.9 AST%, and a 2.4 AST/TO ratio. While 4.4 APG doesn't seem otherworldly, he's responsible for being Iowa's best scorer and playmaker at the same time. - Stirtz takes really good care of the ball for how much it's in his hands, averaging 1.8 TOPG. - Stirtz shot 46.9% in the midrange on 5.8 attempts per game. This included both long and short two's, but he was at his best on longer midrange shots where he shot 55%. - He doesn't get to the line too often with 4.5 FTA per game, but he shoots a great 84.4% at the line. - Stirtz is a good three point shooter, shooting 36% on 6.9 3PA per game. A good portion of these makes came off the dribble, but there's also some nice flashes of him getting open off the ball from three. Stirtz shot 44% on catch and shoot threes and 41% on spot up's, so it's more than likely he can maintain his shooting prowess off the ball as well. One important caveat is that these off ball percentages were on pretty low volume. - Stirtz is a true three level scorer. WEAKNESSES: Weaknesses - His biggest knock is athleticism, but more specifically his lack of bend in his lower half. Stirtz can look very stiff at times and it really effects him on defense. - Stirtz being a below average athlete in an NBA full of incredible athletes can be a little concerning, especially taking into account how reliant his offense is on working off of screens. NBA defenders are going to move quicker laterally and switch more often than they did in college, so Stirtz will have to adapt quickly to warrant playing time. - Stirtz is a MUCH better off ball defender than on ball. He really struggles to stick laterally with any guards that are somewhat athletic, and doesn't have the speed to recover when he's beaten. - His lack of flexibility makes him a poor screen navigator. - Stirtz struggles with physicality just as much as he does with athleticism, getting outmatched physically pretty often in isolation scenarios. - Stirtz is pretty wiry and lacks real mass to his frame. - Stirtz is 22 years old. - He lacks the offensive elasticity of other guard prospects in this class, being pretty role specific. This will limit his draft ceiling overall.
