so his weakness is basketball? PHYSICALS: Official Measurements 6'8.25" Barefoot 221.8 lbs. 6'11.5" Wingspan 8'9.5" Standing Reach STRENGTHS: Strengths - Lopez has a really strong physical profile for a forward, listed around 6’8 barefoot with a strong frame and legit NBA wing/forward size. He already plays through contact better than most young forwards. - His best offensive trait right now is how well he gets downhill. He is not a super shifty creator, but he uses his strength, stride length, and body control really well when attacking closeouts or driving in transition. - Lopez is a very good finisher around the rim. He can finish through contact, extend around defenders, and use touch instead of just relying on athleticism. - He is a really good cutter and off ball mover. He doesn't need the ball to be impactful, which helps his projection as someone who can hopefully slide into an offense early in his career. - Lopez is good in transition, both as a grab and go forward and as a lane filler. He rebounds, pushes the pace, and can make quick decisions before the defense gets back. - His passing is more complimentary than anything at the moment, but there is real flashes in this area. He can make simple extra passes, hit cutters, and make reads off short rolls or drives. - His rebounding is one of his clear strengths. He grabbed 6.1 RPG (4.3 DREB, 1.8 OREB) in just under 26 MPG, which is pretty efficient. - Defensively, his stock numbers are encouraging. Being at 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game shows his activity at the very least, and his size and length are more than enough for him to develop into a good defender eventually. - Lopez has the physical tools to guard wings and forwards. He's strong enough to handle physical matchups and has enough length to bother shots and passes. - His motor is one of his best traits, the guy is always competing and hustling on both sides of the floor. This helps him be very impactful without being someone that needs the ball in his hands. WEAKNESSES: Weaknesses - While his jumpshot is workable, it's far from consistent at the moment. He shot 32.6% from three on 3.0 3PA per game, so it's very much THE swing skill for him as a prospect. - He doesn't offer much self creation ability at the moment, being way better at attacking defenses when they aren't set in transition or closeouts. - His handle can get shaky when faced with physicality or when posting up. - If his initial drive is stopped, he usually passes the ball because he's unable to create any advantage with a counter or dribble moves. - His lateral movement is more reactive than proactive, leaving him susceptible to quicker guards when defending on the perimeter. - Lopez is an undisciplined defender at the moment, gambling for steals pretty often and putting himself out of position. - Overall, if his three point shot doesn't come around then his offensive output is essentially halved. The idea with Lopez is that he can one day become a real 3-and-D player, not someone who's relegated to paint touches. - Lopez doesn't have any single fallback skill, being a major work in development all around.
