Sharpshooting combo guard with a great feel for the game. EXECUTIVE_SUMMARY: Crafty, "Make the Right Play" 3 point shooter with great size. Below level athlete, but able to use craftiness to create opportunities around the rim. Reliable ball hander and solid ball handler for his position. High IQ and great instincts that allows him to make plays on both sides of the ball. Most effective defensively off ball, but always competes. OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: High level shooter, especially off the catch, but also displays a crafty ability to create 3s off the dribble. Not as prolific from mid range, but has a nice floater that may need to be utilized more at the next level. Poor vertical athlete, really struggles when playing off one foot. Much better playing off 2 feet as he is able to use ball fakes, decelerated gathers and good footwork to throw off the timing of defenders. Will likely play more off ball in the NBA, but surprisingly effective on the ball. His handle isn't very flashy, but it is secure and he is able to consistently get defender on his hip. Hang crossover jab step is his most effective move and he is able to use it to get in the paint or create with a step back. Great feel/High IQ that consistently makes the right play and is quite dangerous after attacking a closeout. Size also helps him see over most defenders, but still probably not creative enough to be primary creator. Tough to keep off the offensive boards due to his size and instincts. DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Solid off ball defender. Ideal size/length, but also possesses good instincts and hands. Loves to try to poke the ball out from drivers. Good awareness, usually ready to make the next rotation. Doesn't offer much in terms of rim protection. A lot more questions about him as an on ball defender. Didn't have to do much on ball defending at Illinois as they had a couple standout on ball defenders and they ran a decent amount of zone. Probably lacks the lateral agility to contain NBA guards and frame is a little slight to contain NBA wings despite his toughness. Not much of an event creator defensively, but shows decent instincts in the passing lanes. PROJECTION: Likely high level starter, but could become legitimate core piece if he continues to develop athletically or as an individual defender. Top 25-40 player
