A 6'8, 250-pound 18-year old who is efficient in almost every offensive playtype. In the post on postups, catches on the wing, isolations at the top of the key, both sides of a pick and roll, spot-up shooting. A high-level processor of the game who makes so quickly that he makes reads while in the air catching the basketball. But, he does have some limitations as an athlete that effect his defense and a few aspects offensively. Can he overcome the stiffness to become a truly overwhelming player? OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Offensive hub ability: Boozer is comfortable with the basketball in his hands, creating offense as a postup option - making quick decisions and using his strength and the power of angles to score at the rim. While also defeating doubles with truly special passing ability, lobs over the defense, touch passes whilst in the air to open shooters and cutters. Like truly special stuff. These passes were also there when Boozer was used as a screener. Massive frame and good technique setting screens and on the catch can bulldoze to the basket or make passes that lead to buckets. The same thing applies if Boozer is the ball handler in the pnr. The spot-up shooting from three was excellent and he sprinkled in there some 1 dribble, stepback shots from three as well. Sprinkle in a lot of fouls drawn. You are looking at an offensive hub. Now there are some warts, Boozer is almost exclusively a below the rim player. At his size he is not much of a vertical finisher, he's not postering guys when barreling down the lane/wing. Like in the description - Boozer is pretty stiff, not a ton of wiggle or bend athletically. So this does limit his ability to finish at the rim at a truly efficient rate (64.5% RIM FG% - 51 %tile). Another thing that the lack of wiggle shows up at is in his one-on-one dribble creation. While he can get by with some quickness and strength while dribbling, he does not have the bend/flexibility/wiggle to stop on a dime, get into side-steps shots, being fluid attacking the rim. Can he gain some flexibility/bend over time to bolster his weaknesses here? This inability did not lead to a ton of mid-range shots (99 Morey - lol) and not a ton of off of the dribble three-point volume. Almost all of Cam's threes were off of the catch (77.8 3s Assisted%). 48.3 OBPM, 48.3 LOAD, 5.7 UA RIM, 65.3% TS% DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: While a good communicator and having good hands, I came away a bit underwhelmed on this side of the ball. Solid moving his feet and good in identifying and being a good help defender. But on an island, that lack of flexibility shows up again. Offensive players were able to get around him and get to the rim. Also not a shot blocker, lack of vertical pop. Size does lend him to be a solid defender inside the arc keeping guys in front and contesting jumpers well. Good rebounder overall and that doesn't lack on the defensive end of the ball.
