A rare archetype. A 6'9 scoring machine inside of the arc. Possesses true creation ability with his handle and footwork to get to the rim and finish with power and grace. Pair that with a burgeoning mid-range jumpshot that he can get to off of a pull-up or a post-up, and the ability to get to the line at a consistent rate. Can AJ continue to overhaul his three-point shooting and sharpen his playmaking acumen to become a true offensive engine that can carry a team to the promised land? OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Dybantsa has a combination of size, bend, and explosiveness that allows him to be a supreme scorer. Those physical traits place him in a special echelon as a prospect. The speed and bend with the coordination create his ball handling prowess that allow him to get by most defenders in a one-on-one situation. He can get downhill at an elite rate and finish well, create his own shot in the mid-range area, and he gets fouled at a ridiculous rate. The passing/playmaking ability has grown and I expect to continue to grow as Dybantsa matures, he is capable of making some above-average reads operating with the ball in his hands as well. Three-point shooting volume and efficiency are a bit of a sore spot, doesn't shoot particularly well from three and does not take a high volume of them as a result. I am not entirely sure if the shooting from behind the arc will be something that hits a level where defenses will be more than happy to shut off the paint on AJ and force him into taking a bunch of tough twos. I also believe that there's another level to the playmaking for AJ to strive for. Nonetheless, this is an excellent base offensively for a franchise-level player. DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Should be a better defender than what he is, given his size + wingspan + athletic profile. Low stock numbers, not a lot of promise shown as an on-ball defender in the opportunities given either. Can be disruptive with his size, but will seemingly need a form of incessant defensive coaching and a ton more effort will be necessary for AJ to get to a good level defensively.
