Lightning quick, downhill dribble drive point guard who can get to the rim when he'd like. Also flashed shot making prowess in the mid-range and from the three-point line. Sprinkle in there some flashes of dynamic playmaking too. Flemings is an intriguing PG, but will he be able to work out the kinks in his scoring efficiency? Does his lack of size limit how good he can be on both ends of the floor? OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Intrigue starts with downhill ability and athleticism. Flemings is lightning-quick, being able to zoom past defenders and break the three point line. He is able to get to the rim and get shots up there and also showed some ability - making some impressive spray out and dump-off passes to teammates. You see how I said get shots up at the rim? Yeah... the finishing wasn't always there. This is best illustrated by his 86th-percentile rim rate (per 100) and his 34th-percentile rim FG%. Flemings was also able to create shots in the mid-range area shooting a myriad of side-step, step-back, stop on a dime pull-up jumpers to defeat defenses. He has a ton of lift on these jumpers which gives him room to get these shots off as a smaller player. Shot these mid-ranges at a decent 44.3% clip. The three-point shooting was solid, but not something that is confidence building aspect of his game offensively. Shoots an above average percentage on a lower volume. I do have some confidence in the playmaking that was shown this past season, but to a certain extent especially leveling up to the NBA the ability to punish the defense scoring will need to be respected to open up the playmaking on a consistent level. Can Flemings clean up his offensive efficiency to bolster his viability on the ball as a guard? Is there a runway with this skillset to be an secondary creator and provide value there? DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Playmaker on the defensive end of the floor, especially off the ball reading actions and shooting passing lanes and getting in transition. Also has the bounce to contest at the rim as well. On the ball, Flemmings is a bit underwhelming. Plays with a high center of gravity and defends with his hands a bit more often than he does with his feet. He does have the athleticism to recover when beaten on drives and get back into the picture, but that leads him to being more susceptible to fouls especially at the NBA level. There is still some hope I'm holding out for on this end for Flemmings. It starts with playing with a lower base and adding strength. Can process at a decent level, but needs to continue working technique.
