he's a few popeyes biscuits away from being a lotto pick PHYSICALS: Official Measurements 6'5.5" Barefoot 186 lbs. 6'8.75" Wingspan 8'8.5" Standing Reach 35.5 Inch Vertical STRENGTHS: Games Watched Duke v. Tennessee Duke v. Clemson Duke v. Virginia Duke v. Wake Forest Duke v. Michigan Strengths - Evans shot 36% from three on 7.4 3PA per game. Suffice to say this was ridiculous volume, and easily his best skill as a prospect. To put it in even more perspective Evans attempted 430 FG, with 280 of them being three pointers, so 65% of all his shot attempts were from behind the arc. - Evans is lethal in catch and shoot situations, not only because of his shotmaking ability, but because of his footwork and release point. - Evans readies himself far before he even catches the ball, so he's immediately able to shoot before defenders can close out. - He's supremely confident in his shot, sometimes to a fault, but he will never stop letting it fly even on rough shooting nights. - Evans moves incredibly well off the ball to get himself open. - He sets pretty solid screens all around, but was really good at ghost screening to generate looks for himself. - While I'd say he's better in catch and shoot situations, Evans can also hit off the dribble and manipulate defenders with the attention he draws on the perimeter. There's no fancy bagwork, just one or two dribbles and he's set to shoot. - Evans has a really nice stepback move from three, while I'm not sure the exact volume of it, it's definitely something he's got in his bag. - Evans combination of shooting, off ball movement, and defensive effort make him a plug and play in nearly any offensive system. - While he only attempted 59 shots in the midrange, Evans offers enough here to be a threat in this area. His midrange stepback is nice, but Duke also schemed him some catch and shoot looks as well. - He shows pretty good acceleration and bend in his lower half, making him a solid cutter to the rim. He also recognized backdoor opportunities and really took what the defense was giving him as an inside scorer. - Evans is a much better athlete than you'd expect, being a long strider in the open floor and being too fast on his cuts inside from the perimeter for defenders to keep up. - He has surprisingly good verticality to his game, being a solid lob threat or even creating his own dunks when slashing to the rim. - He finished 67% of his shots at the him, albeit on just 89 attempts. - Evans flashed a floater at times, which is something I'd love to see him go to more regularly. - Evans does a really good job of making himself small in the paint, squeezing through defenders and finishing from very tough angles. - While he's just a decent defender at the moment, with added weight he would have more than enough tools to become above average at the NBA level. Also worth noting that he took a massive leap defensively from his freshman to sophomore year. - His effort and length on the defensive end resulted in a a 2.9 BLK%, which is nearly elite for the position. WEAKNESSES: Weaknesses - You can chalk it up to volume, but like every shooter he had his hot and cold streaks. - I love confident shooters, but Evans did take some pretty ill-advised shots at times. - Factoring in three pointers and long twos, 75% of his shot diet were jumpshots, so his volume on interior looks is pretty limited. - His handle is pretty loose at times. - Evans' strength is one of the bigger concerns with him, as his drives to the rim can be very out of control when met with physicality. - Evans rarely finished through contact, being a player that dribbles around his defender as opposed to going through them. There are some flashes here and there of contact finishing, but he should look to get stronger overall. - He was just an average to slightly below average passer, really struggling to layer the ball over defenders consistently. - While he only averaged 1.1 TOPG, the actual decisions he would make resulting in these turnovers were very poor. - He had 48 total assists on the season to 43 turnovers, with his most assists in a game being 3. - His lack of strength is most apparent on defense, getting moved pretty easily by more compactly built guards. - He did a pretty poor job of navigating through screen on defense, once again a downside of his lack of strength. - He's way too aggressive in perimeter defense, getting lured into dribble moves and stepbacks pretty easily.
