After opting out of the 2025 draft, went back to Alabama and went from a complimentary piece to the engine of a high-octane offense at Alabama. Is there a team that it is willing to bet on Philon's superb creation ability? If not can Philon outplay his physical size and find a way to be a high-level compliment to whatever team he is on? OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Supreme creation ability was on display, can get downhill to the rim with wiggle and pace. Improved three-point shooting - +8.4% from freshman to sophomore season. Shot well off of the catch and off the bounce. Per 100 shooting stats paint a very good story for Philon: - 92nd %tile EFG (58.5%) - 84th %tile RIM (8.7) - 85th %tile MID% (44.5%) - 77th %tile RIM/MID (1.6) - 77th %tile 3P% (39.9%) Add to that a + 6.1 rTS%, 94th %tile 2P_TS% (65.3%), and 4.8 UA_RIM (95th %tile). These statistics show up when watching Philon, on a consistent basis he was able to create as a scorer for Alabama this year, without much of a secondary creator on the team - 29.9% USG (89th %tile). One gripe could be the lack of elite foul drawing. Now when it comes to creation for others, Philon's ability isn't as great as his scoring ability but is at a workable level to buy in on and attempt to develop. - 76 %tile CTOV (8.8) - 93rd %tile Box Creation (11.3) - 80th %tile AST% (31.9) Off the ball, I think Philon can be effective and attack a potentially tilted defense. As long as he can keep up the shooting from three, as prior to this past season at Alabama he shot 31.5% from three. Can't call Philon a pure shooter as of yet. DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Defense is a bit of a different picture and the struggles he has can be attributed to some physical limitations here. 6'2 and 176 pounds, is a small frame and will be taken advantage of. Not an elite athlete or crazy long wingspan or stl% to garner confidence in the ability to not get picked on. Does show effort and fights on that end of the floor. As a freshman, with a lighter offensive burden Philon did play better defense than he did as a sophomore but I don't know how to feel about it scaling up to the NBA level.
