An off ball guard/undersized wing that projects to be a two way contributor. Can he improve his ball skills and playmaking acumen to become a high level guard in the NBA? OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Physical driver that thrives in transition and showed the ability to finish through contact. As an off-ball guard, Burries hit catch and shoot three pointers, attacked closeouts going downhill to get to the basket, and cut well to get points as well. When Burries gets cooking on offense, he will show off his creation ability, shifty and physical often bumping defenders to get jumpers off of the dribble. The efficacy of that is to be questioned though. I would say the same (to a lesser degree) for the three-point shooting. He's a bit streaky from three, there were outings where he couldn't hit the side of the barn, some nights he is 2/5, and then you've got the nights like against Alabama when he shoots 5/10 from three. I do think that there is a path somewhere that leads Burries into becoming a better scorer off the bounce in terms of creation and using his physicality to score inside the arc at a high level. Now for some not so great things. In the description there is a portion labels Burries as an undersized wing. At 6'4, Burries profiles moreso as a wing than he does a true guard. Much of that has to do with his lack of playmaking prowess and true creation as a scorer. Did not see many high level passing chops or a ton of on-ball responsibilities is a bit telling of where he is at this point when it comes to that facet of offense. Again, to me the shooting is streaky and that doesn't always develop into a positive shooter. DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Solid defender, moves feet well and uses his strength to hold ground and effectively bother ball handlers. Off-ball he has a knack for making plays in the passing lanes and on digs. Really good hands. Wouldn't consider Burries as a truly elite defender, and also adding his dimensions into the picture with Burries guarding bigger bodies theoretically at the NBA level. Could be used against smaller guards or shooters though. PROJECTION: Draft Range: Late Lottery (9-13) Best Fits: Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors Projected Destination: Dallas Mavericks (9th Pick)
