i guess you're guard 2 EXECUTIVE_SUMMARY: at first i didn't click with wagler's game whatsoever. a fun guard sure, had no clue why he was projected over people like mikel brown and darius acuff. i thought 'wow, this guy shoots 11 threes a night at 40%? that's cool! what else can he do at a rate that impressive?' 60% true shooting too, what's not to like? i think i felt his physical limitations held him back defensively too much for me to truly adore him, and his creation (whether self or for others) didn't blow me away either. i think i was dumb. i was, i don't just think i was, i was. wagler's creation and passing feel were consistent throughout pretty much all the tape i managed to jam in, and he seemed to me like the least mistake prone of the guards likely to go lottery. there's no games where he's burying his team under an avalanche of turnovers, there's very few where he feels like a total detriment due to his shot selection and, most importantly, he can get to that damn line. if your need is a scorer who can assuredly handle the ball, score at an impressive rate even when the shot isn't falling, and isn't a turnover werewolf in the clutch, keaton wagler is your man, rest assured. okay but the defence isn't amazing and his frame isn't exactly prototypical of somebody who can get above a steal a game though really, measurements aren't actually all that important when you can sense the game well. wagler kinda doesn't on the defensive side, but if he does on offence then the defence can develop well. if he's smart he's smart man. overall if wagler is to be the man for the clippers at 5, i think they'll have made the right choice for their future. if not, somebody further down is gonna keep wagler in Lottery All-Star Purgatory for like eight years. i hope it's the kings that'll be funny. PROJECTION: lol he's 5th overall. come on. the clippers would be dumb as rocks to take anyone over him. except maybe mara off pure positional need and prototypical size
