Christian Anderson has a seasoned style of play that could translate to the NBA. His floor general ability and offensive capabilities are upsides, albeit these will be tested against more physical and higher-IQ NBA defences. EXECUTIVE_SUMMARY: Pros: Commands very good control of himself and doesn't seem to do too much; utilises his speed well and can provide an offensive spark either by his shot-making or his playmaking, especially coming off pick and rolls. His game is simple but effective. Worth highlighting that it's not elementary; he seems to have a good basketball IQ for someone at this stage. Cons: Height will be an issue against bigger players, his weight also could be a limiting factor when coming up against bigger and stronger guards. Defending is also point that should be improved particularly against those that he matches up well with physically. OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Potent three-point shooter. Great coming off of pick and rolls either for shot chances or for playmaking opportunities Playmaking is great with a good ability to read the game and I noticed that he seems to deal with being doubled exceptionally well for someone at his stage. Isn't much of a strong finisher at the rim (particularly due to height, which is expected), his finesse finishing at the rim caught my eye as he seems to have a good grip on that. Has a nice pull-up shot-making motion and decent mid-range efficiency. Doesn't have an erraticness about his playstyle, seems to have good control of his speed His good playmaking also reflects in his assist numbers, though it remains to be seen how he would fare in the NBA DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION: Turns out to be a very good screen navigator. Has decent speed that will enable him to keep up with comparatively speedy point guards. His height might turn out to be a something that could be detrimental if put on a bigger player, especially close to the rim. PROJECTION: I can see him potentially being an early to late 20's pick. BEST_FITTING_TEAMS: Considering Minnesota's issues at the point guard position which they've had all season, to be specific, a lack of a proper floor general and guard who creates his own offence and now further compounded by DiVincenzo's season ending achilles injury, This would put Ayo Dosunmu and Bones Hyland interchangeably in charge of primary ball-handling duties. Someone like Anderson coming off the bench would be of great benefit to the Timberwolves, providing an offensive punch and a calming presence with his style of play and a great benefit to him as it would provide decent-sized minutes, good for his development to acclimatise to the NBA without a lot of pressure on him. Whilst Chris Finch has had a bad rep for not developing youth (although this is an oversimplification at times, considering it has more to do with how his rotations works), Minnesota's aforementioned situation would pretty much force them to seek extra security at the point guard position unless a trade is done, if not Christian Anderson seems like the best possible fit for the situation. Whilst I think Minnesota might be the best fit, if he doesn't fall that far or if he's not picked up, I believe he would be a solid pick-up for Denver as they would benefit from a secondary facilitator coming off the bench to take more of the load off of Nikola Jokic or even Boston, who would need another point guard that has similarities to Payton Pritchard to develop as well. PROJECTED_ROLE: For now, he would work as a bench unit rotation piece that would need development, so his role would be the primary ball-handler in situations where the starters are out or need a short rest, allowing him to get minutes for development.
