the "this guys gonna get a GM fired" player of the class PHYSICALS: Official Measurements 6'9.5" Barefoot 210.8 lbs. 6'11.5" Wingspan 9'1.5" Standing Reach STRENGTHS: Games Watched Tennessee v. Virginia Tennessee v. Iowa State Tennessee v. Michigan Tennessee v. Florida Tennessee v. Rutgers Tennessee v. Ole Miss Tennessee v. Duke Tennessee v. Vanderbilt Strengths - More than ideal measurements for an NBA wing. - Ament is incredibly fluid for his size. - His elite length and movement gives him a decent defensive floor at the NBA level. - His release height is really good and his jumper is mechanically sound. - Ament's body control in air and mid-shot are notable, being able to adjust on the fly to contact. - Ament shot 39% coming off of screens, which is likely how teams will aim to use him in the NBA. With his combination of size and length he can really become a weapon in this facet. - Shot 41% on off the dribble two's, by far the most consistent shot he was making. - Ament is a really solid rebounder, averaging 6.3 RPG (4.6 DREB and 1.7 OREB). If you consider him to be more of a big wing then this is even more of a plus, as he'd be rebounding alongside a PF and C. - He offers good passing upside for the kind of player he is, averaging 2.3 APG. In addition, his height really helps him see over defenders and find the open man more consistently. - He's got a way's to go as a defender but he flashes at times with really great lateral movement and shot contesting ability. Not only that, but he's got above average defensive awareness and is typically putting himself in the right place. - Despite lacking ideal strength Ament doesn't shy away from contact whatsoever. This bodes well for him as he's able to generate 7.1 FTA per game, 13.5 FTA per 100 possessions (97th percentile!), and make 79% of them. WEAKNESSES: Weaknesses - Ament shot 33% on all catch and shoot looks and 34% on spot up's which is pretty concerning for a player that SHOULD be at his best on the perimeter as a complimentary scorer. - Shot 33% from three on 4 attempts per game, but is all around an inefficient shot maker. - Ament needs to add muscle plain and simple. He really struggled to finish consistently at the rim and it's only going to become more difficult to do so in the NBA. - At 6'10 he shot 43% on his layups. - Someone with his length will likely be asked to guard forwards in the NBA, so his lack of strength is also a concern on the defensive end. - Ament had some of his worst performances of the season in the biggest games (1/13 against Vanderbilt, 0 points againt Miami Ohio, 4/11 against Virginia, and 2/12 against Michigan). - Ament turned over the ball too often, averaging 2.3 TOPG and a 1.0 AST/TO ratio. - Essentially all of Aments skills are a projection at this point in time and he is very much a project, not quite boom or bust though as his passing and rebounding are good baseline qualities.
