Upside of SGA level scoring. Franchise guard. SLEPT ON.
Ceiling is around SGA just a worse defender than him.
I think his median is current Spurs De'Aaron Fox, not a superstar by any means but a guy who can go off when given the reigns / a PG who can create opportunities.
// PROS
- Has ELITE handles and craftiness inside the arc. - Great at finishing at the rim (layup package is nasty). - Nice fadeaway middy's. - Takes 2 floaters per game which shows how he can really do it all inside the arc as a guard. - Grew a ton from beyond the arc in his sophomore season, became an efficient high volume 3-point shooter this season. - Good playmaking and feel on offense, I specifically like his creativity, he can create and pass at a high level although he's not an elite playmaker. - Fantastic(!) scoring off screens and pick and rolls.
// CONS
- Pretty light, only 175 pounds. Concerned about his strength at that weight, as the NBA is much bigger and stronger than the collegiate level which does raise concerns for him. - Terrible rim protector. - Not an "above the rim" player, only 11 dunks in 64 games. - Doesn't get many steals. - Not good at navigating screens. - Sometimes a lazy defender.

I believe that Labaron Philon is one of the best pure scorers in this draft class. His playmaking and creation is also high level, and is slept on by many. Philon's concerns come in at his strength and defense. He is going to be light and pretty weak in the NBA compared to others. On defense, he definitely isn't going to be good. He isn't as bad as Acuff, but could be a liability at times for sure. Overall, I project him to be a high scoring point guard with shades of Fox and Morant. I view his median outcome to be sort of similar to current De'Aaron Fox, a PG who can score at all 3 levels, especially good at attacking the rim, best used as a first option, and also is a good playmaker. He has an ABSOLUTE ceiling of current SGA, I mean if you watch Philon's offensive bag work you will see a striking resemblance to SGA. Obviously this is a rare outcome, and he'd have to really work on his strength and defensive consistency, but I think having that high of an upside makes him a guy that I would certainly take within the top 10.
