AJ DYBANTSA

AJ DYBANTSA
My top rated prospect, elite scorer with a translatable game that can contrbute immediatly. Tons of potential on defense, especially if he goes somehwere that emphasizes defensive motor.
A more athletic & longer JT, if defense developes, could be just as dangerous as JT on offense and an elite perimiter defender with shot blocking ability
Defensive potential is there on the perimeter especially, but also around the rim. Offense will end up better than jadens current offensive level.
If offensive game somehow takes a dip, could be an athletic 3 and d guy that is capable of scoring in volume on occasion. This is assuming he developes a strong defensive motor and instincts.
// EXECUTIVE_SUMMARY
AJ is my top rated prospect. I think that with his size, athletisism, and shot making/creating ability is the sought after prototype in the NBA, if he developes defensively and plays smart on offense, he could become an efficient 30 ppg kinda guy that is more than capable on defense.
Percentiles are positional, measured against NBA players' last season in college.
// OFFENSIVE_EVALUATION
With Ajs size, athletisism and shot creating/making ability gives his offensive game very exciting potential. He is more than capable as a playmaker, however a concern for me are his turnovers. Yes he had the ball a ton in his hands at BYU, so turnovers will come with that, however, some of the turnovers were very preventable and I'd say this ishis biggest weakness. The counter to this is his playmaking ability. At the NBA level, if he can go to a team where he isn't the main ball handler that is setting up plays, I think the turnover numbers will naturally go down while he can still contribute with his passing along with his scoring.
// DEFENSIVE_EVALUATION
When you are as long and athletic as AJ is, it is easy to see the defensive potential, and flashes of this showed in his time at BYU. He was great at taking the ball away both on and off the ball even without fouling, with a stk/foul percentage of 88%. However, i do think that this number inflates one of his main weaknesses on defense which is his shot blocking. With his gifts, it would have been good to see a block percentage higher than 11%. I do think his defensive instincs can improve as well, especially off the ball when he is not in position to get steals. I think in the right system, and with his motor from what I have seen makes him more than capable of developing to be an elite defender to compliment his offensive game.
